Ecommerce </b></span></h1>
<p><span class="write">Ecommerce or electronic commerce is the
ability to take orders online and accept payment by credit
card. This requires two things to be setup, a web site with
a shopping facility (often called a shopping basket or a shopping
cart), and a credit card acceptance facility. </span></p>
<p class="write"><b>Shopping Facility </b><br>
This is a web site with a good product navigation and search
facility so that the buyer can easily find the products s/he
is interested in. S/he then clicks on the Buy link to add
the item to the "shopping basket" which is really an automated
order form. Then the user has purchased all the item wanted
s/he presses the "Check out" button to enter the delivery
address and credit card details</p>
<p><span class="write">Ideally this shopping basket web site
should be database driven, so that the site owner can add/delete/amend
products online, without the web designer being involved.
IT Partnership have written a generic database driven shopping
site that can be used by our customers. The advantage of using
our shopping basket over using a pre-written e-commerce package
is that we can amend it to suit exactly the clients requirements,
rather than being frustrated by the packages limitations.

<p class="write"><b>Credit Card Acceptance Facility </b><br>
The credit card info given by the purchaser can be used to
create a transaction using an existing Merchant Services account
from one of the major banks. If you have a Merchant Services
account this is easy to organise, however for clients currently
without a facility to accept credit card payments there are
online services which will provide this. We can advise on
the options and help you setup a credit card acceptance account.
