*Creative Drinks @ Cox=E2=80=99s Yard, 6th November*



Please join us for the next Creative Drinks at Cox's Yard on Wednesday the
6th November from 7-9pm. We will be in the downstairs main area of the bar.
We hope to see as many of you as possible, so please bring yourselves and
your friends.


*Update on ARC @ The Brook*


Here=E2=80=99s what=E2=80=99s been happening at The Brook, our arts hub.


Work is progressing well as we get the new premises ready for decorating
and as we collect donated furniture and other equipment.


The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust have taken out the old counters and
kitchen units to open up the ground floor space as you enter the building.
They have made good the associated electrical work and are also
removing/relocating the gas metre. When the work is finished, there will be
room opposite the door for a reception desk and some comfortable seating in
the corner where people can relax and have a chat.


The Bearpit Theatre, The Rosebird Community Centre and Stratford Town
Council have kindly donated furniture and we now have more than 40 stacking
chairs and a number of sturdy tables, some square and some rectangular.
We=E2=80=99ve also got folding screens that can be used to display artwork =
and
increase our available gallery display space.


The two event/workshop areas are looking good. The larger space has a sink
(ideal for washing brushes, etc.) and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has
fitted a new splashback behind it.


Fire extinguishers are in place and we had a fire safety assessment earlier
in October that went well. The assessment was necessary because of the
change in the purpose of the building from nursery to arts hub.


The decked area at the side of the building at first floor level has been
cleared of leaves and debris. It now needs a thorough scrub or jet wash and
an assessment of its overall condition. There are a couple of small patches
that will need a repair, but hopefully it will prove to be generally sound
as it could be a useful extension for outdoor events next summer..


The Directors are going to receive briefings on fire and security systems
and on the procedures for testing these and maintaining good practices and
processes. We are also getting quotes for public liability insurance and
once we have received the lease for the building, we will let our
volunteers know that they can start preparing surfaces and decorating!


The final step will be when a secure bike shed and the disabled parking
bay/kerb modifications have been completed at the front of the building.
These are essential, mandated works under the planning permission we
received to change the use of the premises and are being managed for us by
the Birthplace Trust. It=E2=80=99s difficult to say how long they will take=
, but it
is reasonable to assume that we are looking at opening for business in the
New Year. If that timescale improves or lengthens, we will let you know. In
the meantime we can push on with cleaning and decorating as soon as we have
the lease - we will let all of our decorating volunteers know as soon as we
have a date.


The Directors would again like to thank you, our members, for your support.
We are also very grateful to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust who have been
exceptionally helpful in getting us to this point and in guiding us through
the processes that we need to follow. Thanks again to those organisations
who have donated furniture and to our members who have volunteered to help
