2024 BURSARIES - APPLY NOW!
WOS is funding four bursaries of =C2=A3250 each that will enable new talen=
t in the early stages of their creative journey to get involved with Summe=
r Art Weeks 2024 and assist in the transition to becoming an artist.

Following on from the success of our 2022 and 2023 bursary artists=2C we a=
re once again looking for talented artists aged 18 and above=2C working in=
any art medium (2D or 3D)=2C who have never participated in WOS Summer Ar=
t Weeks before to apply for =C2=A3250. The money must be used to facilita=
te your involvement in the Summer Art Weeks and can be used for materials=
to produce artwork=2C framing=2C printing=2C display equipment=2C travel=
costs etc.
The successful artists will also be given one year=E2=80=99s free WOS regi=
stration and their Summer Art Weeks 2024 entry paid (combined value =C2=A3=
130)=2C as well as support in finding a venue through CONNECT (https://war=
wickshireopenstudios.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3D700752cd6a0076ce1=
79465a1a&id=3Da95a3a4b67&e=3D5bd6815c1b) . In addition=2C we will pr=
ovide mentor support through our network of established artists=2C who wil=
l work with you to help you prepare for the event. We will notify all app=
licants as to whether they have been successful or not by 12 January 2024.

Clare Shilvock - 2023 Bursary Artist
Clare (Warwickshire Willow) was one of the four successful bursary artists=
in 2023. She is a willow weaver and took part in the event alongside oth=
er established artists at Art @ St Nicholas and Snitterfield Studios.
Clare attended a willow course to learn how to plant and maintain a living=
willow dome and the first time she felt the flexibility and energy within=
a willow rod=2C she was hooked! She planted 100 willow cuttings as a tria=
l and now with more than 5000 willow plants across more than 60 varieties=
=2C she harvests and uses her own willow to produce beautiful functional a=
nd sculptural forms.
Commenting on being chosen as one of the Bursary Artists=2C Clare said: "R=
eceiving the WOS Emerge Bursary was such an honour and a wonderful opportu=
nity - for which I am very grateful. The generous financial boost allowed=
me to purchase items to help to display my work=2C print business cards=
=2C commission brand tags and buy tools to support demonstrations and teac=
hing workshops."
"The WOS team were all very supportive=2C providing advice and tips to ens=
ure that my first time exhibiting was a really positive experience=2C givi=
ng me the confidence to realise that I could actually sell my work and eng=
age meaningfully with potential customers. It felt like a safe environmen=
t to test the waters with new and varied products. The feedback that I ga=
ined has helped to shape and guide the next steps in my creative journey."
"The publicity team did a fantastic job promoting my work and the event as=
a whole=2C in well-known publications and digitally=2C helping to attract=
many visitors over the course of the event. In addition to connecting wi=
th the other incredibly talented bursary winners=2C the opportunity to mee=
t and exhibit alongside established=2C inspiring artists was a great learn=
ing and networking experience=2C opening my mind to possible exciting futu=
re collaborations."
** Following on from awarding the bursaries we will then support the artis=
ts to ensure they are at the most suitable venues for their work. We will=
also provide mentor support to ensure they engage with the process and wo=
rk with the other established artists at their venues to gather as much in=
formation as possible about life as an artist.

** We were very pleased with the range of artists we were able to support=
in 2023 as we had a printmaker=2C willow artist=2C ceramicist and digital=
artist / painter. They were also from a diverse range of ages and backgr=
ounds. We hope to once again work with artists at the early stages of the=
ir creative careers=2C so please make sure you register if this is relevan=
t to you or forward onto friends and family.

=2Chelvetica=2Carial=2Cverdana=2Csans-serif">Clare (Warwickshire Willow)&n=
bsp;was one of the four successful bursary artists in 2023. She is a=
willow weaver and took part in the event alongside other established arti=
sts at Art @ St Nicholas and Snitterfield Studios.<br>

Clare attended a willow course to learn how to plant and maintain a living=
willow dome and the first time she felt the flexibility and ene=
rgy within a willow rod=2C she was hooked! She planted 100 willow cut=
tings as a trial and now with more than 5000 willow plants across more tha=
n 60 varieties=2C she harvests and uses her own willow to produce beautifu=
l functional and sculptural forms.<img align=3D"right" data-file-id=3D"662=
