In October 2018, Virgin Money joined forces with Clydesdale, which provides
accounts under the names of ‘Clydesdale Bank’, ‘Yorkshire Bank’ and ‘B’.
Since then we’ve been working hard to bring the two businesses together,
which will create one bank with around six million customers.
We’re writing to let you know what this means for you and how to get in
touch with any questions.
We’d be grateful if you (and anyone else with an interest in the account(s))

What does this mean for me?
Virgin Money is currently a separate bank from Clydesdale. So we can bring
the two businesses together as one bank, we’re transferring the business of
Virgin Money to Clydesdale and as part of that your Virgin Money Credit Card
account(s) will transfer to Clydesdale. Providing the Court approves the
transfer, we expect this to happen on 21 October 2019.
We’ll be working behind the scenes to make the changeover as smooth and
seamless as possible. In reality, you won’t notice a lot of difference in
the day-to-day operation of your credit card. Everything will feel the same
as it does now, and you’ll still be very much part of the Virgin Money
family. Your Virgin Money Credit Card account(s) will still be Virgin Money
branded and our contact details will stay the same.
There are no changes to sort codes, account numbers or any account features,
and you can carry on using the same sign-in details if you use our Online
Service. Our web address will also stay the same.
You’ll see the Clydesdale name at the bottom of things we send, like letters
and statements. But the Virgin Money logo will still be at the top and you’ll
be looked after in the same Virgin Money way.
The next version of your Terms will show your account(s) as being with
Clydesdale, but that’s all. We won’t be making any other changes to your
Terms as part of this transfer.
Your existing agreement(s) with Virgin Money will move across to Clydesdale,
as will any privacy notice issued to you by Virgin Money. We’ll treat any
agreement(s) as having always been in place with Clydesdale. If we change
the privacy notice, we’ll let you know through our website.
The transfer won’t change the way you use your account(s), but as we bring
the two businesses even closer together, we may need to make some changes to
our processes, IT systems or terms. For example, if you use our digital
service, in the future we may ask you to download a new mobile app. We have
also been clear that we will look to optimise our branch network, reducing
duplication over time. This will happen gradually, and we’ll only make
changes in line with your Terms. If a change impacts you, we’ll always give
you plenty of notice, explain what it means and make it as seamless as
possible.

What about the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
If you have deposits (e.g. a savings or current account) with Virgin Money,
then the following information is important to you.
The FSCS protects individuals who have savings held in a UK bank account up
to £85,000 per individual. This means that you can have up to £85,000
protected in your account(s) with Virgin Money. When the two businesses come
together as one bank, you’ll continue to get protection on your total
savings with Virgin Money, up to £85,000 (or £170,000 for joint accounts).
If you’d like to bring your total balances down to the FSCS limit following
the transfer to Clydesdale you may choose to move some of your savings to
another bank. If you do, we’ll make sure you are able to do so without
incurring a penalty or losing any accrued interest (this would usually be
the case if you have a fixed rate account). You’ll just need to make the
transfer by 21 January 2020. After that, the usual terms of your account(s)
will apply again.

What happens next?
First things first, the transfer needs Court approval and a hearing is due
to take place in the Court of Session in Edinburgh on 26 September 2019,
although this date may change. If it does, we’ll update our website at
virginmoney.com/virginmerging

As long as the Court gives its approval, your Virgin Money Credit Card
account(s) will transfer to Clydesdale on 21 October 2019. Again, once this
is confirmed, we’ll update our website.
The transfer will happen automatically, so you don’t need to lift a finger.
As you’d expect, we have worked closely with our regulators to make sure the
transfer is made carefully and smoothly.

Virgin Money is currently a separate bank from Clydesdale. So =
we can bring the two businesses together as one bank, we=E2=80=99re =
transferring the business of Virgin Money to Clydesdale and as part of =
that your Virgin Money Credit Card account(s) will transfer to =
Clydesdale. Providing the Court approves the transfer, we expect this to =
happen on 21 October 2019.=20

We=E2=80=99ll be working behind the scenes to make the =
changeover as smooth and seamless as possible. In reality, you =
won=E2=80=99t notice a lot of difference in the day-to-day operation of =
your credit card. Everything will feel the same as it does now, and =
you=E2=80=99ll still be very much part of the Virgin Money family. Your =
Virgin Money Credit Card account(s) will still be Virgin Money branded =
and our contact details will stay the same.=20
<br/><br/>
There are no changes to sort codes, account numbers or any =
account features, and you can carry on using the same sign-in details if =
you use our Online Service. Our web address will also stay the same.=20
<br/><br/>
You=E2=80=99ll see the Clydesdale name at the bottom of things =
we send, like letters and statements. But the Virgin Money logo will =
still be at the top and you=E2=80=99ll be looked after in the same =
Virgin Money way.
<br/><br/>
The next version of your Terms will show your account(s) as =
being with Clydesdale, but that=E2=80=99s all. We won=E2=80=99t be =
making any other changes to your Terms as part of this transfer.=20
<br/><br/>
Your existing agreement(s) with Virgin Money will move across =
to Clydesdale, as will any privacy notice issued to you by Virgin Money. =
We=E2=80=99ll treat any agreement(s) as having always been in place with =
Clydesdale. If we change the privacy notice, we=E2=80=99ll let you know =
through our website.

The transfer won=E2=80=99t change the way you use your =
account(s), but as we bring the two businesses even closer together, we =
may need to make some changes to our processes, IT systems or terms. For =
example, if you use our digital service, in the future we may ask you to =
download a new mobile app. We have also been clear that we will look to =
optimise our branch network, reducing duplication over time. This will =
happen gradually, and we=E2=80=99ll only make changes in line with your =
Terms. If a change impacts you, we=E2=80=99ll always give you plenty of =
notice, explain what it means and make it as seamless as possible.

When the two businesses come together as one bank, you=E2=80=99ll =
continue to get protection on your total savings with Virgin Money, up =
to =C2=A385,000 (or =C2=A3170,000 for joint accounts).=20

If you=E2=80=99d like to bring your total balances down to the =
FSCS limit following the transfer to Clydesdale you may choose to move =
some of your savings to another bank. If you do, we=E2=80=99ll make sure =
you are able to do so without incurring a penalty or losing any accrued =
interest (this would usually be the case if you have a fixed rate =
account). You=E2=80=99ll just need to make the transfer by 21 January =
2020. After that, the usual terms of your account(s) will apply again.=20
