Francis Bacon used the title Instauratio Magna for his project of renewing
human knowledge: questioning inherited ideas and finding a new way forward.
At the center of this piece lies my own Instauratio Magna. A fire in my home
earlier this year forced me to start over in ways I had not expected. As the
house was cleared and rebuilt, I also began to reconsider routines,
assumptions, and habits I had carried with me for years. The fire became a
clearing of the ground, both literally and personally.
One of its clearest effects appeared in my work. For years, I had focused
almost entirely on my identity as an artist, leaving my identity as a
designer aside. Art had come to carry the full weight of who I was, creating
a pressure that often led to creative blocks. After the fire, something
shifted. It broke an invisible creative inertia and helped me let go of
rules I had been following mostly out of habit. I began to see art and
design not as competing identities, but as different parts of the same
practice. Art is an essential part of who I am, but it no longer has to
contain everything.
For a long time, I had felt stuck within Tormius, my artistic project,
always trying to define what truly represented me as an artist but never
quite reaching the ideal I had in mind. While my home was being rebuilt, I
spent months reconsidering how I worked, how I saw myself, and what I wanted
my practice to become. I tend to do this kind of work in the shadows, slowly
taking things apart before finding a new way forward.
This piece represents that new beginning. It brings together the first
principles of a visual language that finally feels like my own. The absurd
characters and imaginary world that have always lived in my head are now
emerging with greater confidence and plenty of room to evolve. This piece
marks the beginning of a new path of exploration, first shaped in Rio de
Janeiro during the Rio Art Residency, and now sealed by fire.

the center of this piece lies my own Instauratio Magna. A fire in my =
home earlier this year forced me to start over in ways I had not =
expected. As the house was cleared and rebuilt, I also began to =
reconsider routines, assumptions, and habits I had carried with me for =
years. The fire became a clearing of the ground, both literally and =
personally.</span></em></p><p style=3D"margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: =

its clearest effects appeared in my work. For years, I had focused =
almost entirely on my identity as an artist, leaving my identity as a =
designer aside. Art had come to carry the full weight of who I was, =
creating a pressure that often led to creative blocks. After the fire, =
something shifted. It broke an invisible creative inertia and helped me =
let go of rules I had been following mostly out of habit. I began to see =
art and design not as competing identities, but as different parts of =
the same practice. Art is an essential part of who I am, but it no =
longer has to contain everything.</span><br><span>For a long time, I had =
felt stuck within Tormius, my artistic project, always trying to define =
what truly represented me as an artist but never quite reaching the =
ideal I had in mind. While my home was being rebuilt, I spent months =
reconsidering how I worked, how I saw myself, and what I wanted my =
practice to become. I tend to do this kind of work in the shadows, =
slowly taking things apart before finding a new way =
