Crossing Over is an audiovisual work created by software artist LIA to a s=
oundtrack by Damian Stewart.

Horizontal and vertical lines provide support and structure. Connecting li=
nes abruptly shift as ideas are reformulated and reconfigured. Over time a=
 journey unfolds=2C starting from certain shapes and colours=2C through th=
e darkness of monochrome=2C blurred impressions of shapes in confusion=2C=
 before finally emerging in strong colour and form.

About LIA

Austrian artist LIA is considered one of the pioneers of software and net=
 art and has been producing works since 1995. Her practice spans across vi=
deo=2C performance=2C software=2C installations=2C sculpture=2C projection=
s and digital applications. The artist=E2=80=99s primary working material=
 is code=2C which consists of LIA translating a concept into a formal writ=
ten structure that then can be used to create a =E2=80=9Cmachine=E2=80=9D=
 that generates real-time multimedia outputs. Since her concept is fluid -=
 opposed to the formality of the written code that requires engineered pre=
cision - the translation process between machine and artist can be viewed=
 like a conversation.
