Treize Alpes is a collection of seven video works by Jacques Perconte now=
released on Sedition. The video works are recordings of a new generative=
piece by the artist. Only seven variations have been captured; seven exce=
ptional moments that remain the only traces of this piece=2C erased by the=
artist once the videos were recorded. This series is the artist's thirtee=
nth project dedicated to the Alps chain=2C which he passionately continues=
to film year after year.
From a randomly drawn colour=2C the images slide into each other=2C taking=
with them colours and materials in their grooves as they go. Everything t=
hat happens in the image is the result of their technical peculiarity=2C i=
t is by working within the video compression encoding that the images acqu=
ire this porosity.

ne of the first artists to have worked on compression codecs as artefacts.=
Through reverse engineering and expert manipulation of the encoding and s=

cques Perconte now released on Sedition. The video works are recordings of=
a new generative piece by the artist. Only seven variations have been cap=
tured; seven exceptional moments that remain the only traces of this piece=
=2C erased by the artist once the videos were recorded. This series is the=
artist's thirteenth project dedicated to the Alps chain=2C which he passi=
onately continues to film year after year.</p>
