How to meet identity verification requirements
There are 2 things each PSC needs to do to comply.
1. Verify their identity for Companies House, if they haven’t already

After verifying, they’ll be given a Companies House personal code. If they
already have one, they do not need to verify again. The guidance on

2. Provide their Companies House personal code
This is so we can connect their verified identity to the PSC name on our
records. We’ll also ask them to tick a statement confirming they’ve verified
their identity.
They can do this online using our 'Provide identity verification details for
a PSC' service <https://www.gov.uk/guidance/provide-psc-verification> .
They need to do this even if they’ve already done it for other roles they
have at this company, or at other companies.
If they cannot verify on time
They can request a 14 day extension using the 'Provide identity verification
details for a PSC' service

They must do this within their 14 day period.

Why do PSCs need to verify their identity?
This is a new legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate
Transparency Act 2023. All company directors and PSCs must verify their
identity to prove they are who they say they are. This has been introduced
to help prevent people using companies for illegal purposes.
