Yes fully understand your situation.
Its exactly the same for Sue and myself and all of our staff. We are still
trying to get direction on this as a company as the goal posts are changing
daily. Thwaites had originally agreed to pay your salary for the next 3
weeks but have now cancelled that so we are having to sort out a contingency
plan within the last day. I can’t answer you art present but you have 38
hours for this weeks pay. And 17 hours for next weeks pay. We could top that
up with your holiday fund and pay it back when the government grant comes
through. That’s if it comes through. Nobody has been given the funds for
this yet.
You at least for now will have two weeks wages breathing space.. Sue can’t
answer you at present either.
Thousands of companies are presuming they will get the government job
protection scheme which is not out until the end of April.
We will keep you in the loop and contact you when we know more.

Hi
I spoke to Sue earlier and she explained that as its changing everyday, she
couldn't answer the question about my pay.
What i need to know is, am i going to be paid 80% of my wage until i return
to Thwates as I'm sure you will appreciate that i cannot take an answer of,
we will TRY and pay you the same.
I have a family and bills to pay like everyone else going through this and
need to know where i stand regarding this issue.
Hope you understand my concerns
Many thanks
Jason

Jason,
We have been contacted by Thwaites regarding your employment. Initially they
had decided as a company to close down the factory for a period of three
weeks with full pay. They have now decided due to operational needs to
furlough all of their workers.
Furlough generally is a period of time off paid / unpaid but still retained
by the company.
As you are aware these are unusually hard times for all of us but after the
situation has calmed and things get back to normal they would like you to
return. At present we do not know when that will be.
As you may have heard in the news, the UK Government has introduced a
Coronavirus Job Protection Scheme, which is set up to help protect both
individuals and businesses against the economic downturn the pandemic has
caused. You may be wondering what this means for you. Thwaites has taken
the decision to put you on this until further notice.
These guidelines are changing daily and at present we may be able to get 80%
of your salary through the government portal / job protection scheme. This
will not come into effect until the end of April / start of May at the
earliest and can be backdated to the 1st April 2020.
If you can let us know that you wish to take advantage of this can you
please reply to this email or contact me on 01926 450545
For further advice on Furlough schemes please refer to government websites
and guidelines.
I know that these are difficult times for everybody but hopefully we will
come out of this all at the end. We will keep you up to date as the
situation develops and we can get clarification of future changes.
Kind Regards
Bob
