Valentin
You asked me to email you regarding my recent stay.
Not one to complain but the more I have thought about this the more
serious it is.
We recently stayed here 13th December 15th December.
The first issue is regarding my vehicle as you are already aware.
The second issue was we were unable to have breakfast due to the amount of
people that were waiting.
The third issue is I was not given a receipt for my stay.
On arriving at the hotel we asked if we could have valet parking. My car
was parked at the front of the hotel on a very busy road.
We went to our room to freshen up from our journey. On coming down my car
was still sitting outside the hotel with a young man in the driving seat.
I presumed that this was the valet.
As my car is 50k automatic land rover and one month old we decided to
watch him park it.
10 minutes later he still had not moved, The indicators, side lights,
hazard warning lights had gone off several times and he looked puzzled. I
decided to ask him if everything was ok and he said the car would not move
and there was something wrong with the brakes ( I had just driven 100
miles) I explained to him that it was an automatic and asked him if he had
driven one before. He said he had and said that there was something wrong
with it. I got into the driving seat and moved the car forward and
backward demonstrating that there was nothing wrong with it. He then said
fine and proceeded to drive it again. After another lengthy wait he
nervously pulled away. About 20 metres the car came to an abrupt halt in
the middle of a very busy road causing various cars around him to break
and demonstrate their annoyance, He moved once again and stopped once
more, This is synonymous with someone applying the brake thinking its a
clutch. My view is that he could not drive an automatic vehicle. I then
had to run into a busy road and asked him to get in the passenger seat
while I PARKED THE VEHICLE. The car was perfect. I again asked him if he
had driven an automatic and he replied not one like that? Funny as all
automatics are the same. As I had lost faith in the valet parking I asked
if I could have my keys and remove the car from the car park. I parked it
in the car park opposite ( which coincidently is much cheaper.) The very
nice Asian concierge came with me to let me out the car park. He mentioned
that the other man should not have been driving it and noted that it was a
very expensive and nice car. He apologised profusely.
My complaint is that he was not qualified to drive the vehicle. He could
have killed or injured himself or someone else. Caused a large amount of
damage to the car, plus this caused me a large amount of stress and worry
when I should have been enjoying my stay. Can you please make sure that
drivers are suitably experienced to drive a visitors vehicle. It did upset
me immensely and put a dampener to the start of my break.
Secondly on coming down for breakfast on 15th we could not get into the
breakfast lounge. I know that the hotel was busy but I think it terrible
that we could not get in to the breakfast lounge because of the queues.
This need to be addressed! The previous morning we had got there later and
a lot of the buffet food was finished or cold. If your breakfast is on
until 11:00am the food should still be good at 10:58am. You do advertise
the fact that 10:30am it is quiet. We had to be gone by 10:30 due to the
parking time. So could not queue. Admittingly you did apologise and offer
a coffee but its still not satisfactory.
Thirdly you said that you would email me a receipt for our stay. Most
hotels do provide this on leaving the hotel. I need this for VAT reasons.
I will say that the hotel is very nice and I will not trip advise it based
on a few things. And be prepared to visit again.
The staff are very good throughout and very accommodating at reception,
bar and for the morning we went into the breakfast bar. Constance in the
level room is an Angel.
The hotel is clean and an ideal location for exploring Manchester.
We will be returning next year and I would like to think that you could do
something for us to renew our trust in the hotel and the brand. We will
not be asking for valet parking again but enjoyed the level room.
Thank you
Yours kindly
