I've had a brilliant response to my recent email about the superb 2023 
Saint-Véran 'Les Ombrelles' Maison Jean Loron such that there are now fewer

We've just taken delivery of a final parcel of the ever delicious 2023 
Saint-Véran 'Les Ombrelles' by Maison Jean Loron and it's drinking better 
than ever.

When I served my last bottle a few weeks back it was every bit as impressive 
as I remembered, possibly even more so now with a little extra bottle age 
that's just softened the zip a touch and revealed a more rounded, textured 
palate.

Needless to say that the arrival of the very same 2023 vintage is worth 
shouting about, especially as we've managed to secure a fantastic deal on 
what's likely to be the very last of this vintage, permitting me to offer it 
to you at just £270/case (£22.50/bottle down from £23.95) making it, if 
possible, even harder to resist!

And nor should you try to resist! I've served this Saint-Véran on a number 
of occasions in recent months and it always goes down a storm; bursting with 
exotic fruit, a wonderful texture and superb length to the finish. It's a 
delight on its own, but equally impressive at the dining table too.

Maison Jean Loron...
Founded in 1711, Maison Jean Loron boasts vineyards in eight of the ten 
Beaujolais crus, as well as vineyards in both Saint-Véran and Pouilly 
Fuissé. They're without question one of the leading producers of the region. 
This 2023 Saint-Véran 'Les Ombrelles' is a perfect example of the 
craftsmanship on offer.

My Notes | April 2026

An enticing pale gold with silvery shimmer meets you in the glass, with 
alluring aromas of ripe pears, white peach, acacia and honeysuckle now with 
greater depth from a little extra time in the bottle.

On the palate there's a lovely smooth flow of orchard fruit, peach and pear, 
a subtle hint of prickly pineapple and citrus all melded together perfectly, 
now with a slightly broader more rounded mouthfeel.

Fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks, the beautifully weighted, 
textured palate is a result of perfectly judged aging on the lees, imparting 
a rich, near creamy character to the palate that has only been further 
enhanced with time in bottle.

The finish is dry, and fresh with that wonderful medley of exotic fruit and 
creamy charm returning, and holding long on the palate.

It's a very fine glass of white Burgundy, one that punches well above its 
price point.
