Charing Cross and Waterloo East
national rail station closures
From Sunday 26 July until Sunday 16 August, Charing Cross and Waterloo East
national rail stations will be closed. This is due to Network Rail
engineering work.
Southeastern services that normally run to/from Charing Cross will be
diverted to the following alternative terminals:

Increased footfall and traffic levels are expected before and after each
event, with some venues implementing local road closures to safely manage
pedestrian and vehicle movements.
Saturday 25 July
East London
From 05:30 until 18:30, extensive road closures and bus diversions will be
in place for a triathlon event taking place through east London, starting
and finishing at the ExCeL Centre, with Royal Victoria Dock used for
swimming and a cycle stage between Gallions Reach and Leamouth Roundabout
via Royal Albert Way, Silvertown Tunnel and Lower Lea Crossing. Traffic
delays are expected in the area, in addition to some local bus diversions.
Central London
From 13:00, a march will take place throughout central London, starting at
Langham Place and finishing at Whitehall via Regent Street, Piccadilly,
Haymarket and Trafalgar Square. Extensive road closures and bus diversions
will be in place along the marching route, with traffic delays expected.
Sunday 26 July
East and central London
From 04:30 until 18:30, extensive road closures and bus diversions will be
in place for a triathlon event through London, starting and finishing at the
ExCeL Centre via Royal Albert Way, Silvertown Tunnel, Lower Lea Crossing,
East India Dock Road, Limehouse Link Tunnel, The Highway, Tower Hill, Lower
and Upper Thames Street and Victoria Embankment. Traffic delays and bus
diversions are expected.
Until late September
A10 Cambridge Gardens Junction
Until late September there will be a series of works, including lane
closures and temporary traffic signals, at the junction of the A10 and
Cambridge Gardens.
Works will take place between 08:00 and 17:00 on Mondays to Fridays, with
some night works needed. This is while we upgrade the existing crossing for
pedestrians and cyclists.
Works have been scheduled during the summer to take advantage of lower
traffic levels, but delays are expected. Plan ahead and leave more time for
your journey.
Until late 2026
A23 Brixton Hill
Until late 2026, there will be lane restrictions and temporary traffic
lights on Brixton Hill between the junction with Christchurch Road and the
junction with Holmewood Road.
This is due to SGN works taking place until Sunday 30 August, and ongoing
TfL works from Tuesday 1 September to implement a new road layout on
Streatham Hill.
If you are travelling locally during these works, consider walking, cycling
and wheeling where possible. If you need to drive, check before you travel

A40 Westway
We have now been able to re-open one westbound lane of the A40 Westway. This
means that you can now travel in both directions between Marylebone Flyover
and the Westway Roundabout.
Previously, the A40 Westway westbound was closed between Marylebone Flyover
and the Westway Roundabout following a bus fire at Westbourne Park.
The A40 Westway is still open eastbound.
Local bus routes may experience delays. If you are travelling in the area,
allow more time for your journey, consider alternative routes and check
before you travel
