Good morning,
Château Méaume 'Réserve du Château' has very rightly been a favourite of
ours and FromVineyardsDirect customers for many years. It is impeccably made
by the Johnson-Hill family since 1980 in lovely countryside just outside the
Pomerol and Saint-Émilion appellations.
From predominantly Merlot's 50-year-old low yielding vines, their 2018 is a
rich, concentrated, classic-styled claret made in one of the finest Bordeaux
vintages.

How does the wine taste?
A vibrant, dark ruby wine with aromas of ripe red berry fruits. It is rich
and intense with layer upon layer of old-vine merlot flavours with a hint of
spices and tobacco, and a lingering finish. A lovely wine that can both be
drunk young and will age well for at least ten years.
What do the critics say?
"Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple
colored 2018 Méaume gives up wild blueberries, baked cherries and garrigue
scents with suggestions of pencil lead, stewed tea and wild sage.
Medium-bodied, it has a taut, muscular palate with lovely vibrancy and soft,
rounded tannins, finishing with an herbal lift."
