Dear Neil Stainton,

Pookye has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Discu=
ssion Thoughts on Mini Dart 2? - in the DLG Hand Launch Gliders & F3K forum=
 of RC Groups.

This thread is located at:

Here is the message that has just been posted:

Hello,

I just registered on the forum for this thread.=20
Thanks to everyone who contributed information about this Mini Dart 2 - it =
was a long read!

This thread has given me a lot of information about the MD2. When I will st=
art building it, I know where to find the information (I took screenshots, =
I'm not going to reread everything...although...).

I was initially thinking of buying a ready-to-fly fiberglass Mini Dart 2. I=
'm not very good at building, but better at repairing. The manufacturer ass=
embles it with DSM44 servos. Not a bad servo, but not great for 1S apparent=
ly. So I'll probably choose KST X06 or Chaservo DS06, with pulleys.

I usually fly larger gliders on windy slopes or in mountain thermals. I own=
a Dreamflight Alula that used to be motorized, but I've just converted it =
back to its original unpowered configuration. I tested it as a DLG in very =
light conditions=E2=80=94something I'd never done before=E2=80=94and it was=
a real "lightbulb moment" for me! I realized I need a small F3K glider!!

My plan is to fly the DLG in the field next to my house, but also on the sl=
ope when conditions are very weak. Our slopes are grassy, =E2=80=8B=E2=80=
=8Bbut not quite as smooth as a football pitch. I plan to practice hand-cat=
ching with the Alula, even though I know the Mini Dart will be slower with =
its flaps. I am fully aware that a DLG will be much more fragile than the A=
lula.

So I'm thinking of reinforcing the leading edge with Blenderm or Heli tape,=
and buying a spare fin right from the start.

- We can reinforce the joint between the frame and the fin a bit.
- We can reinforce where the fin rubs against the ground.

But I have a question: can the fin be cut relatively easily? I'm thinking o=
f a shape like the E-MD2's fin, without any overhang under the fuselage (th=
e E-MD2's fin doesn't fit, the fuselage isn't the same) - I think I would l=
ose stability on launch, but performance isn't the goal, otherwise you buy =
a real full-size F3K.

Thanks.

(Sorry for my English with Google Translate, I come from a country where th=
e locals speak English like Spanish cows)
