Dear Neil Stainton,

scruffy1 has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Dis=
cussion What did you do with your DLG today? - in the DLG Hand Launch Glide=
rs & F3K forum of RC Groups.

This thread is located at:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3D1729899&goto=3Dnewpost

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
another day, another happy dog experience (at the eastern end of the big fi=
eld, with no sportsball in play)

steady soft breeze, but obvious gradient with height meant more velocity up=
 there

best flight 2:19 and another pair at 1:30 with the lift being sporadic but =
tight - unlike yesterday's sortie, where i meandered around, there were nas=
cent thermals with really small diameters that corkscrewed in skewed direct=
ions completely unrelated to the surface wind direction=20

the biggest flight i abandoned due to the drift, which was paradoxically up=
wind of ground level breeze and rising fast, but well over the end of the p=
ark, and the weird overlap of wind vectors had me worry about getting back =
if it really opened up

despite now 4 tears of regular use and a few repairs to the pod (and reinfo=
rcing the rear former that carries the launch torsion of the boom) it is st=
ill in great nick and weighs the same ~ 125gm loaded that it started at

i am pretty sure i have not vaguely tested the range limit in any of my fli=
ghts, despite specs suggesting 400m plus for the tiny f2sa receiver, as at =
that distance it would be hard to see

my highest flight with the binary 900(mm) was an estimated 300m away at apo=
gee (altimeter at 700' and presumably ~ 600' downwind) and it was becoming =
invisible during parts of the circling - and that was with eyes a decade mo=
re effective

the issue is more presumed difficulties beating upwind back to the field - =
the binary had flaperons and could be set with inverse camber for max speed=
; this plane just floats along, although surprises me that is can penetrate=
reasonably, but i'm not keen to test its limits

All the best,
