Not sure of the new price of the ovation but they seem to sell for 
around £300 second hand

As your husband is after a more tradition guitar any of the taylors or 
martins would be an ideal upgrade

Something a little nicer, the taylor has rosewood back & sides plus 
cutaway or the martin is all solid wood
