This Pre Owned Fender 1961 Stratocaster in Dakota Red finish is a guitar
that over the years has been loved and more importantly played. This
isn't a mint condition masterpiece but if you're looking for something
unique and this sits within you budget, then it's a solid investment.
The previous owner purchased this guitar in April 1975 and has played
professionally with it since, hence the 'road worn' appearance. It was
re-finished by the original owner (pre 1975) to what you see today. It
has been re-fretted in the late 70's by Rob Armstrong here in Coventry.
At the same time he lacquered over the neck. We believe the pickups to
be original but the bridge pick up failed in the late 1970's and was
re-wound to the original spec by a company based in the Midlands.
We have taken time to really get to know this guitar in our workshop
before listing and have taken lots of internal photos (available on
request). There have certainly been replacement parts over the years but
like we said, this has been a players guitar for years. The tuners have
been replaced as the originals were no longer useable.
The big Fender fans might even recognise the signature on the underside
of the scratchplate. To us, we think it reads 'Mary' but again we have
no way of knowing for sure. The volume pot is original but both tone
pots were replaced over the years with CTS ones. The pickup selector has
also been replaced more than once over the gigging years. At the moment
the frets are worn but still playable.
It has an old non original flight case for safe transportation. Tremolo
arm not pictured but in the case. We've given it a full set up and
healthcheck in our workshop and it's now ready to find a new home.

This Pre Owned Fender 1966 Telecaster in Sunburst finish with Rosewood
fingerboard is in excellent condition and for the past 20 years hasn't
been played. It's an absolutely fantastic instrument with a lovely feel,
weight and balance.
Overall the condition of the neck and body is fantastic with no major
damage to report, just the authentic wear and tear from years of
playing.
We do know that this guitar original belonged to Bubs White of the
Bonzo's. We have found footage of him playing this live on Youtube.
During this performance with Viv Stanshall you can see there is a
sticker below the bridge on the top of the body, which has preserved a
small area of the finish. Included in the case is an Elstree Studio
running order. This just adds to the unique history of this guitar.
As far as we can see this is all original with the exception of the
tuners that have been replaced for pre CBS Fender ones. We presume due
to wear on the originals. Thankfully they have used the original holes
and therefore the back of the headstock is still in great shape.
Local luthier John Alderson (Delta Resonators) has just given it a full
set up and healthcheck including full fret dress. There is still plenty
of life in the frets which we believe to be original. It is currently
set up with 9-42's. Both pickups 6K output.
