Thanks for your email. Apologies we're closed Sunday and Monday, so 
just getting round to replying to emails.

The Gretsch is a cool guitar with a weight 8.5lbs. It does depend maybe 
on the age/build of your son as to whether weight is a deciding factor.

Although there a little more expensive, we do sell lots of ESP LTD 
EC-256 for beginner/intermediate players as they're a really comfy 
guitar to play, being slightly lighter and slimmer in the body. I've put
