ĆTokensSmartLipoHPMSV6# SmartLipo V6 Mag Switch Product Text, exc specs
# %1 = capacity in mah - 240, 450, or 650

The <b>Shread-RC SmartLipo HP MS %1 V6</b> is a more powerful, light, compact device for powering lightweight RC gliders like discus launched gliders (DLG) and other small models. Enhancements in this version include increased usable capacity and an improved low battery alert giving a longer warning period before the power goes off. The effective capacity has been increased by improving the charge circuitry and the firmware has been upgraded to allow it to be switched on or off more easily using the supplied magnet.

The SmartLipo HP MS %1 V6 has the following parts integrated into a single lightweight device:{bullet}
1 cell %1mAh LiPo battery.
A magnetic on-off switch.
A high performance switching 5V regulator, to create a stable low noise supply for the receiver and %2 servos.
Microprocessor based battery condition monitor, ensuring the battery is not over discharged.
A jumper type on/off switch and charging port.
A loud alarm beeper to warn of battery exhaustion. {endbullet}
<b>How to use the Shread-RC SmartLipo %1 with Magnetic Switch</b>

{i,To enable the SmartLipo} - remove jumper from the {i,Charge In} port. The SmartLipo will be switched on, and the magnetic switch will be active for further on-off switches.

{i,To switch off} - hold the magnet above the MS letters on the SmartLipo's sticker for 3 seconds.

{i,To switch on} - again, hold the magnet above the MS letters on the SmartLipo's sticker for 3 seconds.

{i,To deactivate the Magswitch and disable the SmartLipo} - replace the jumper on the {i,Charge In} port.

{i,To charge the battery} - connect 5-15 V DC to the {i,Charge In} port and the SmartLipo built-in charger will charge the LiPo cell at the correct charge rate. The sticker is marked <b>+</b> and <b>-</b> to indicate the power lead polarity. Put the red wire on the + side. If you plug it in the wrong way no damage will occur, but the battery won't be charged. We recommend a 5V to 15V battery is connected, eg a 2S-4S LiPo, a 12V lead acid, or a NiMH receiver battery. Do not use a SmartBEC, a charger, or mains transformer as the power source, as the unsteady voltage will blow the electronics. There is no need to unplug the SmartLipo from the receiver. When the battery is fully charged the regular charging beep changes to a double beep.

{i,To find the battery's current charge state} - remove jumper from the {i,Charge In} port and the built-in buzzer will beep LiPo's voltage - it beeps once for every 0.1V above 3.5V, so four beeps indicates 3.9V. No beeps means stop flying!

<i>To warn you to stop flying</i> - the buzzer outputs a trill sound when the LiPo battery voltage goes below 3.6V. This happens when the SmartLipo is about 75% discharged, so should give approx 30 minutes warning, depending upon the current drawn by the RC. The output voltage stays at 5V until the battery empties and the SmartLipo powers itself down.

{i,What is that beep?} - the SmartLipo beeps every 30 secs to tell you power is on, so you don't forget to switch the R/C off after the flight.

<b>Benefits</b>
{bullet}
Light weight and low bulk.
Powerful, suitable for %2 servos.
Convenient built-in magnetic switch simplifies installation.
Low battery warning saves model.
Very low battery powerdown saves LiPo - the device automatically powers off when the voltage drops to 2.85V so the battery is saved if the RC is left on in error.
Integrated charger - easy charging from many suitable power sources.
Use of a 1S LiPo battery eliminates balance problems.
The highly efficient HF switching voltage booster maximises flying time and eliminates RF noise.
{endbullet}

See this quick video showing the magnetic switch in operation.

These 38 mm spinners are currently being rebranded from <b>Hyperspinner</b> to <b>Hyperspinner Power</b> as they have a central boss similar to the other Power HyperSpinners. No actual change has been made to the design, and we will be selling them under both names until the old stock is exhausted.

{bullet}
This 38 mm HyperSpinner yoke has a centre boss providing more metal adjacent to the motor shaft, allowing the spinner to be used in higher power application.
The accurately CNC machined aluminium yoke ensures smooth operation and good power handling.
The cranked yoke design allows the prop blades to fold closer to the fuselage than with a conventional design, reducing drag.
Supplied with a tough <b>black</b> plastic spinner cone that absorbs hard landings without cracking.
Other colour spinner cones available as spare parts.
The spinner front hole reportedly allows "turbo" motor cooling, if suitable holes are drilled in the firewall.
Supplied with an Allen key for easy fitting.

The {b,%1 Polypropylene Adhesive Tape} is ideal for adding colour to models and/or covering foamie models. It adds strength and colour for a minimal weight gain.

When taping a wing run the tape spanwise, starting from the trailing edge and working forward. The tape over the leading edge should stick over both the bottom surface and the top surface tapes. This way all the ridges are facing downwind.

<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">What is the size and weight of the RAM3?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>The RAM3 is a heatshrunk PCB with the following dimensions:<br>
Length = 20mm (0.79&#8221;)<br>
Width = 14.5mm (0.57&#8221;)<br>
Thickness = 7.5mm max (0.30&#8221;)<br>
Weight = 2.2g ex lead, 2.9g including a 20cm (11&#8221;) lead
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>RAM3 Capacity</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">How long does the RAM3 last when sampling at X samples per second?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>There is no exact number of samples because it depends slightly on how many individual flights are recorded.
A conservative number of samples would be 65000 which gives:

<h3>Why is a Serial (RS232) Port Required</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">Surely you can buy/offer the alternative USB interface when ordering from the manufacturers?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>No they don't offer a USB version, as a USB interface is more complex than a serial interface.
Putting the USB stuff on the RAM3 would increase its weight, size, and cost. Alternatively supplying it with a custom USB converter
would increase the cost - and probably by more than &pound;15 as the market is tiny.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>RAM3 Not Connecting to the PC</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">I cannot transfer data into the program. My USB to serial adapter is by datacom, and I have
put it to port 5 as shown after the adapter installation set up. The Altimeter makes all the right noises, but the programme does not
respond to accept the data - nothing appears on screen re downloading, then when I click on anything, it puts up 'programme
is not responding', and then offers to send Microsoft an error message.</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>Either the USB to Com converter is not installed correctly.<br><br>
Check this by:<br>
Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | System<br>
Click on the Hardware tab<br>
Click the Device Manager button<br>
Click the + next to Ports<br>
Look at the list of ports, noting the COM port number. E.g. mine says ATEN USB to Serial Bridge (COM4)<br>
Double click on the COM port device and check the status says &quot;This device is working properly&quot;<br> <br>
Or you are using the wrong COM port.<br>
Fix this by either finding the com port number by doing the above, or simply try all the com ports from 1 to 9. Also check you have the
RAM3 cable plugged into the correct port in the back of the PC. They aren&#8217;t usually marked very well.<br><br>

<strong>Modem Sounds and Clearing the Memory </strong><br>
The RAM will transmit its data anytime the cable is plugged into it. The other end does not even need to be plugged into a computer.
Often people hear the &quot;modem&quot; sound and report that it's communicating to the computer. Umm, no it's not. It has no idea
whether the computer is listening or not. They hear the sound of data and assume that the computer's port is working.
<p>Actually this is convenient as it means that the memory can be cleared without a PC being present - just power up the RAM3 with
the serial cable connected, wait for the noise to stop, and then wait for a further 10 seconds before powering-down the device.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Opening .alt Altitude Files</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">I installed the software, but cannot open the example .alt files</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>You can't double click on the .alt files, you need to start the FlightView program and then choose File | Open.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Emailing .alt Altitude Files</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">How can I show my fiends the altitude trace of one of my flights?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>You can attach the .alt file to an email and send it you your friend. However he will not be able to open
it unless he installs the FlightView software. He can get this for free from <a href="http://www.soaringcircuits.com"><u>www.soaringcircuits.com</u></a>. Alternatively you could create a
picture of the flight, and email him this graphic file. See below for instructions. Another alternative is to Export the flight from the
FliqhtView software. This will create a .CSV file that will be readable in any spreadsheet program. Creating a chart of the flight in
Excel only takes a couple of minutes.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Saving .alt Altitude Files as Graphic Files</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">How do I save a RAM3 altitude trace as a graphic file?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>To do this requires going through several steps in the correct order. You may have to repeat it several times to
get the hang of it, however it is worth it as it works for all Windows programs. You will need a graphics program installed on your PC
that allows you to paste in screen dumps from the clipboard. Microsoft Photo Editor, Photoshop Elements, and IrfanView (among many others)
allow this.
<p>IrfanView is shareware and is available free from <a href="http://www.soaringcircuits.com"><u>www.irfanview.com</u></a>. The wording below assumes IrfanView is being used, however all graphics
program offer similar facilities.</p>

<ol>
<li>Load the flight in FlightView, and adjust the pan and zoom settings to get the flight centred in the program window.</li>
<li> Press Alt-PrtSc. This means hold down the key marked Alt to the left of the spacebar and then tap the key marked PrtSc (or sometimes
Print Screen) next to function key F12. This copies the window to the clipboard, but nothing changes on the screen when this happens.</li>
<li> Load the graphics program, IrfanView in this example.</li>
<li> Choose Edit | Paste from the menu. (In other programs the command is often File | New from Clipboard.)</li>
<li> You can optionally use Crop tool to remove the Windows title bar and any other parts you don&#8217;t want.</li>
<li> Use File | Save As to save the image as a .jpg file. You should set the quality to at least 70 to ensure the image is free of compression
artefacts. When dome correctly the size shouldn&#8217;t be much above 50Kb, and the image can be emailed to anyone, even if they have a slow Internet connection.</li>
</ol>

<p>Note: you can also use Edit | Paste in Microsoft Word to put the screen dump into a .doc file. However Word uses a very inefficient
storage algorithm, and the resulting Word document will be rather big.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Long File Names and File Extensions</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">I have used a long file name when I save - is this a problem?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>There isn't a problem with the long file name, but there IS a big problem with removing the .alt from the end.
The FlightView File Open dialog box no longer recognises it as a RAM3 data file and doesn't display it. You will have to use Windows
Explorer to rename the file to include the .alt the end, then you will be able to see it in the File Open dialog box and reload it into FlightView.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>PDA Compatibility</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">Does the PDA software support Palm OS devices?</span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>No. The PDA software only works with Windows PocketPC 2003, as used on HP iPaq and similar devices.
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<h3>R/C Receiver Connection</h3>
<span class="Q">Q. </span><span class="Q2">I notice a signal wire to the receiver - what is it used for? </span><br>
<span class="A">A. </span>The signal wire isn't used for anything. On my RAM3 I removed the rx cable and power it directly from a
50mAh lipo cell. That way I can easily move it from model to model to PC without any fiddling. There isn&#8217;t a weight penalty as the
little cells hardly weighs more than the cable.</p>RAM3 Frequently Asked QuestionsNa

<b>Benefits of these servo frames:</b>
{bullet}
Support the servo and especially the output arm,
reducing the forces on the servo bearings.
Increase stiffness of the output arm, reducing control surface compliance.
Reduce the chance of flutter.
Reduce the chance of servo failure.
Simplify servo installation.
Do not increase in wing/servo thickness.
Facilitate easy removal of the servo for replacement or maintenance.
Are of comparable weight to simple plastic/wood servo mounts that do not support the output arm.
Do not require modification to the servo, so the warranty isn't affected.
{endbullet}
This product consists of a pair of beautifully CNC machined SmartModel alloy servo frames that fit %1 servos. We highly recommend them for all F3J, F3B, F3F, F5B, and other high speed RC models, as they simplify the installation of wing servos, and increase performance.

These unique frames provide an extra ball raced bearing to support the servo output shaft,increasing the strength of the servo, increasing the rigidity of the mounting, and reducing current draw. Only these mountings allow the full performance of the servos to be realised.

<b>Each frame consists of:</b>

1 - CNC machined aluminium alloy frame specifically designed for these servos.

1 - Machined steel output shaft extender. This is threaded and screws into the servo's splined output shaft, retaining the horn and providing the new bearing surface.

1 - Quality ball bearing to provide a low friction support for the output shaft extender. By being on the other side of the horn this support removes the cantilever geometry of the original shaft mounting, massively reducing stresses, reducing friction, and reducing any compliance in the output arm.

1 - Nylon bearing clamp.

4 - M2 bolts for securing the bearing clamp and the servo to the frame.

Two of each item above are included in this product, to allow apairof servos to be securely mounted.

<b>To fit the servo using this frame:</b>
{bullet}
Wash the CNC frame in soapy water.
Abrade the underside with wire wool or coarse wet and dry paper, if necessary wash again.
Strengthen the inside of the wing by lining the servo bay perimeter to transfer the loads to both wing skins - fit sub ribs and webbing.
Glue the frame in place using quality epoxy.
Fit the servo horn, and screw in the steel output shaft extender.
Fit the ball race to the shaft extender.
Bolt the servo to the frame ensuring the ball race is seated nicely
Bolt the nylon bearing clamp in place to secure the ball race.
{endbullet}

:Classic: The original fatter pod, with a removable nose cone.
:Pro: The new longer, slimmer drooped pod - used on all glider Supras. Now suplied on most electric models. Only very small (Speed 400 size/25mm diameter) geared motors can be fitted.
:Competition: The model is fitted with a built-up tailplane (horizontal stabiliser) and rudder. This results in a slight reduction in tail weight, reducing the model's total weight and inertia.
:Expert: The model is fitted with lightweight spread carbon molded tailplane (horizontal stabiliser) on a short tail pylon. This reduces drag and improves the model's stability and pitch response.
:Ulralite: The wing has a reduced strength spar and glass wing skins - lightest, but suitable for low energy electric flight only.
:Spread Carbon: The SC (also called ST for Spread Tow) wing has a full strength F3J spar and spread carbon wing skins - very light and very strong.
:Glass: The wing has a full strength F3J spar and all glass wing skins - light.
:Carbon/Glass: The wing has a full strength F3J spar and carbon skins on the centre panel, and glass wing skins on the tip panel - medium weight.
:Carbon: The wing has a full strength F3J spar and all carbon wing skins - heavier, but very strong.

This pushrod set consists of a %1 mm carbon rod running in a %2 mm outside diameter %3 tube. This excellent quality pushrod set is long and strong enough for many types of models, and for a multitude of engineering uses.

This type of inner rod and outer tube is sometimes called a {b,Bowden Cable}. It is important that the ends of the %2 mm outer tube are secured to the structure. It is even better if the complete outer tube run is glued in place. This can be achieved in tailbooms by temporarily fitting a piano wire inner rod and clamping the tube to the boom with magnets. Then liberally dribble in CA unto the upended boom, until the CA appears at the other end of the run.

{b,Sold singly - one inner rod and one outer tube per set.}

ServoFrame<b>How To Mount Wing Servos Using Ply Frames</b>

1. Glue a strip of 3mm (or 1/8) balsa to the leading edge of the mount (width dependant on the distance the mount is likely to be behind the main spar).
2. Place the mount with the servo in-situ in the wing and abut it against the rear of the main spar.
3. Slide the mount sideways until it is in the correct position laterally and determine how much the width of the 3mm balsa needs to be adjusted for the mount to be in the correct position fore and aft.
4. Trim balsa to size. Reposition servo mount in wing and when happy with position draw a pencil line around the outside of the mount.
5. Remove servo from mount and epoxy mount into wing taking care not to get any epoxy in the inside of the mount which will prevent servo sitting properly in the mount.
6. Set up and adjust servo control rods as required. When satisfied glue servo in position using silicon / bath sealer and allow to set overnight.

To remove servo gently lever out with a suitable small screwdriver, allowing time for the sealer to break its bond between the servo and the wing.

Do not epoxy the mount in place with the servo in-situ for two reasons. A) It gets in the way when trying to place the mount. B) It introduces side loads which have a tendency to move the mount out of position whilst the epoxy is setting.

To minimise control surface slop the servo must be mounted as rigidly as possible. In molded wings this is greatly assisted by bonding the servo to the bottom wing surface, using a suitably shaped wooden block. Similarly attaching false ribs to the inner and outer edges of the servo bay will mechanically connect the upper and lower wing skins, increasing rigidity.

lTokens	SmartLipod# SmartLipo Product Text, exc specs
# %1 = capacity in mah - 240, 450, or 650

The <b>SmartLipo %1 V4</b> is a lightweight, compact device for powering the light RC gliders like discus launched gliders (DLG) and other light models. Improvements in this version include much lower self-discharge current, integrated beeper, and clearer end of charge indication.

The SmartLipo %1 V4 has the following parts integrated into a single lightweight device:{bullet}
1 cell %1mAh LiPo battery.
A high performance switching 5V regulator, to create a stable, low noise, 5V supply for the RC.
LiPo charger with suitable charge rate pre-set.
Microprocessor based battery condition monitor, ensuring the battery is not over discharged.
A jumper type on/off switch and charging port.
A loud alarm beeper to warn of battery exhaustion. {endbullet}
<b>How to use the SmartLipo %1</b>

<i>To switch on</i> - remove jumper from the <i>Charge In</i> port to obtain 5V DC on the RC output wire.

<i>To switch off</i> - replace the jumper on the <i>Charge In</i> port. The RC will no longer receive any power.

<i>To charge the battery</i> - connect 5-15 V DC to the <i>Charge In</i> port and the SmartLipo built-in charger will charge the LiPo cell at the correct charge rate.

<i>To find the battery's current charge state</i> - remove jumper from the <i>Charge In</i> port and the built-in buzzer will beep LiPo's voltage - it beeps once for every 0.1V above 3.5V, so four beeps indicates 3.9V. No beeps means stop flying!

<i>To warn you to stop flying</i> - the buzzer outputs a trill sound when the LiPo voltage goes below 3.5V.

<i>What is that beep?</i> - the SmartLipo beeps every 30 secs to tell you power is on, so you don't forget to switch the R/C off after the flight.

<b>Benefits</b>
{bullet}
Light weight and low bulk.
Convenient built-in switch simplifies installation.

# %1 = capacity in mah - 240, 450, or 650
# %2 = recommended usage

The <b>Shread-RC SmartLipo %1 V6</b> is a light, compact device for powering lightweight RC gliders like discus launched gliders (DLG) and other small models. Enhancements in this version include increased usable capacity and an improved low battery alert giving a longer warning period before the power goes off. The effective capacity has been increased by improving the charge circuitry.

The SmartLipo %1 V6 has the following parts integrated into a single lightweight device:{bullet}
1 cell %1mAh LiPo battery.
A high performance switching 5V regulator, to create a stable low noise supply for the receiver and %2 servos.

<i>What is that beep?</i> - the SmartLipo beeps every 30 secs to tell you power is on, so you don't forget to switch the R/C off after the flight.

# SmartLipo Mag Switch Product Text, exc specs
# %1 = capacity in mah - 240, 450, or 650

The <b>Shread-RC SmartLipo MS %1 V4</b> is a lightweight, compact device for powering the light RC gliders like discus launched gliders (DLG) and other light models. It has in integrated magnetic switch to allow the RC to be turned on or off without accessing the inside of the model. Improvements in the V4 version include much lower self-discharge current, integrated beeper, and clearer end of charge indication.

The SmartLipo MS %1 V4 has the following parts integrated into a single lightweight device:{bullet}
1 cell %1mAh LiPo battery.
A magnetic on-off switch.
A high performance switching 5V regulator, to create a stable, low noise, 5V supply for the RC.
LiPo charger with suitable charge rate pre-set.
Microprocessor based battery condition monitor, ensuring the battery is not over discharged.
A jumper type on/off switch and charging port.
A loud alarm beeper to warn of battery exhaustion. {endbullet}

{i,To warn you to stop flying} - the buzzer outputs a trill sound when the LiPo voltage goes below 3.5V.

{i,What is that beep?} - the SmartLipo beeps every 30 secs to tell you power is on, so you don't forget to switch the R/C off after the flight.

<b>Benefits</b>
{bullet}
Light weight and low bulk.

# %1 = capacity in mah - 240, 450, or 650

The <b>Shread-RC SmartLipo HP %1 V6</b> is a more powerful, lightweight, compact device for powering lightweight RC gliders like discus launched gliders (DLG) and other small models. Enhancements in this version include increased usable capacity and an improved low battery alert giving a longer warning period before the power goes off. The effective capacity has been increased by improving the charge circuitry.

The SmartLipo HP %1 V6 has the following parts integrated into a single lightweight device:{bullet}
1 cell %1mAh LiPo battery.
A high performance switching 5V regulator, to create a stable low noise supply for the receiver and %2 servos.
LiPo charger with suitable charge rate pre-set. This High Power version has a higher current capability and is capable of running 4 digital servos.
Microprocessor based battery condition monitor, ensuring the battery is not over discharged.
A jumper type on/off switch and charging port.
A loud alarm beeper to warn of battery exhaustion. {endbullet}
<b>How to use the Shread-RC SmartLipo %1</b>

<i>To switch on</i> - remove jumper from the <i>Charge In</i> port to obtain 5V DC on the RC output wire.

<i>To switch off</i> - replace the jumper on the <i>Charge In</i> port. The RC will no longer receive any power.

<i>To charge the battery</i> - connect 5-15 V DC to the <i>Charge In</i> port and the SmartLipo built-in charger will charge the LiPo cell at the correct charge rate. <i>To find the battery's current charge state</i> - remove jumper from the <i>Charge In</i> port and the built-in buzzer will beep LiPo's voltage - it beeps once for every 0.1V above 3.5V, so four beeps indicates 3.9V. No beeps means stop flying!

<i>What is that beep?</i> - the SmartLipo beeps every 30 secs to tell you power is on, so you don't forget to switch the R/C off after the flight.

This pushrod set consists of a %1 mm stainless steel rod running in a %2 mm outside diameter %3 tube.

{b,Sold singly - one inner rod and one outer tube per set.}

# IDS/Mono Sets
# %1 servo
# %2 Num pushrods
# %3 pushrod min length
# %4 pushrod max length
# %5 pushros length increment

The <b>Integrated Drive System/Mono for %1 servos</b> is a beautifully engineered external bearing servo frame matched to a custom servo horn and supplied with a set of ultra-rigid pushrods for connecting the servo to flaps and ailerons. The {b,Integrated Drive System/Mono} is the latest design of Servorahmen IDS systems. It ensures an low drag slop free and mechanically sound servo to control surface connection.

An {b,Integrated Drive System} or {b,IDS} is a largely or completely internal linkage between the servo and control surface. It is different from a normal wire based linkage in using much stiffer components, resulting in a more rigidly connected control surface, with much less compliance. Also IDS linkages use much shorter servo arm and control surface horn lengths. This allows the linkage to be enclosed in the wing.

These frames and IDS linkages speed-up servo installation, keep the servo secure and rigidly mounted, and also allow easy removal for maintenance or replacement. The external bearing reduces side load at the servo output arm, reducing compliance and extending the life of the servo. The external bearing and the special rigid IDS pushrod reduces any free play, increasing the stiffness of the control surface, improving control and avoiding flutter problems.

The connection between the servo and control surface is made via a ready-made hard plastic pushrod, so no cutting or gluing is required, making for a quicker and more repeatable installation. %2 of these mono pushrods are supplied in each kit, varying in length between %3 mm and %4 mm, each approx %5 mm longer than the next. These new IDS sets are labelled "Mono" as the pushrod is a monolithic component, not an assembly of parts that can come apart.

Parts supplied in this Mono IDS set:
1 servo frame
1 control surface horn
1 ball bearing
%2 plastic IDS pushrods - range between %3 mm and %4 mm length
4 servo arms of different lengths
2 servo mounting screws
4 steel bearing shafts (2 are spares)

Sold singly. Add one to the basket for mounting and connecting one servo. The previous type of IDS sets with pushrods made from an aluminium tube are discontinued and replaced by this new IDS/Mono design.

No official installation guide is available but Piere Rondel has posted this excellent {href,https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPpkj8Nprgfn5af9yxKf3gRmrruTu0rXvxFcMcNFtoKuBoiQrSY4pCqVFvUfBx7VQ?key=UFUtUnRSVHNOeGdWWjFEX240WGtWR2ZNVzVfbEhR, Servorahmen IDS Installation Guide}. The spinner assembly consists of a very nicely molded carbon fibre spinner cone, a 7075 alloy CNC yoke (centre piece), a hardened steel front clamping screw, a conical split shaft mounting collet and two polished steel hinge pins for mounting the prop blades. The end of the hinge pins are threaded for securing them into the yoke. The spinner and prop assembly attach to the motor shaft using a conical split collet which is clamped to the shaft by tightening the front clamping screw.

Benefits of the <b>GM F5J Carbon %1mm/%2mm Spinner</b> include:

{bullet}
The accurately CNC machined 7075 aluminium yoke is generously proportioned, for maximum safety and power handling.
The straight yoke design reduces the force on the root of the prop blades, and is safer for high power/high RPM setups.
Supplied with a beautiful moulded carbon spinner cone.
Split collet mounting reduced vibration and avoids the need for flats on the motor shaft.
{endbullet}
See the last two photos to see how well the spinner works, especially when fitted with GM pro blades, and how closely the blades fold to the fuselage on this Infinity F5J model. Also please read this great {href,products.asp?code=GM-F5J-28-6&cmd=showreviews#reviews,customer review} to see how well people like these spinners in real life.

{b,To fit the folding propeller blades} unscrew the retaining/clamping bolt completely with a 3mm Allen key (not included). Remove the nosecone, easing it over the yoke, then unscrew the threaded hinge pins, and fit prop blades. If they don't hinge freely it is okay to remove a small amount of material from the blade root. Finally reassemble the spinner and secure the head of the bolt with Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242.

{b,To fit the prop/spinner assembly} to the gearbox output shaft (or to the motor shaft in direct drive installations) unscrew the retaining/clamping bolt a few turms with a 3mm Allen key (not included). This will loosen the collet and allow it to slide over the shaft. Then tighten the retaining/clamping bolt until the prop assembly is firmly attached. Up to 4.5 Nm of torque can be safely used when tightening the Allen key.

We do not recommend using a clevis to connect the pushrod to the servo or control surface. The best option is to use a piece of wire attached to each end of the pushrod. Initially tack this in place with a little CA. Then bind it with kevlar thread. Then soak the thread in thin CA. Alternatively a 2 cm length of suitable diameter hear shrink tube can be used, but be sure not to damage the carbon rod when heating the tube.

Use a Z bend at the servo end.

Use an L bend at the control surface end. Retain this with a thin wire whisker keeper, a commercial keeper, or a small length (4 mm) of plastic or aluminium tubing, CAed into place.

When doing this centre the servo and masking tape the control surface in the correct neutral position. CA the wire to the rod with the end connected up, to ensure the correct pushrod length. Use the radio's centre and end point adjustment facilities to make any final adjustments necessary.\E

The <b>VM Pro Spinner %1/%2 Set</b> for 8 mm root folding propeller blades is suitable for electric gliders requiring a %1 mm diameter spinner to fit %2 mm motor shafts. It has been optimised for the new range of Vladimir's Models folding prop blades, where it will allow exceptionally tight closing of the prop blades to the fuselage, reducing drag to the minimum. To facilitate this the yoke is smaller than usual, and will only accept the highest tech carbon blades with very small radii blade roots. From our preliminary testing VM Pro spinners work with most VM, GM and RF blades, but do not accommodate Vitaprop, Aeronaut or Graupner blades.

The spinner assembly consists of a black plastic spinner cone, a alloy CNC yoke (centre piece) and two polished steel hinge pins for mounting the prop blades. Like the VM HyperSpinner design the hinge pins are cleverly trapped in position by the plastic nosecone.

Benefits of the VM Pro Spinner %1mm/%2mm include:
{bullet}
Design optimised to allow the blades to fold flat to the fuselage
More pointy spinner better matches the contours of most fuselages
Light weight
Reduced drag
{endbullet}
See the last photo to see how well the spinner works, especially when fitted with VM prop blades, and how closely the blades fold to the fuselage on this Plus X F5J model.

Note that like all folding prop spinners the plastic spinner cone {i,often} needs a little material removed to allow the blades to extend fully. This is not a structural concern. Also sometimes a little material may have to be removed from the root of the prop blade to allow full and free movement. At low power levels (less than 600W) it is usually safe to do this, but this is done at your own risk.

{b, THESE SPINNERS MUST BE USED WITH GM CL BLADES. They are not compatible with any other propeller blades.} Standard GM blades will have 10 degrees too much pitch and will not work correctly.

This {b, GM CL Competition Line} %1 mm spinner is extremely light and compact, and when used with matching GM CL prop blades facilitate an incredibly streamlined and low drag folding propeller installation. They also come with special rubber bands that ensure that the blades fold strongly against the fuselage sides. The carbon cones have openings cut in to keep these bands nicely in place.

The special yoke (also called hub or centre piece) used in the GM CL Spinner incorporates a design idea that originated with F5B hubs. An additional 10 degrees angle is added to the yoke and subtracted in the prop. This has no effect when the prop is open but results in the blades being twisted 10 degrees and lying flatter to the fuselage when folded. Also by using specially designed less twisted propeller blades any gaps between the folded prop and the fuselage are further reduced, minimising drag when gliding.

The blades are attached to the yokes with polished steel pins which have loose fit inside the yoke and slightly tighter fit inside the blade. To disassemble the set just use a rod or a hex screwdriver with diameter bellow 3mm and push the pins out. When reassembling the set GM advise applying small amount of oil to the bores of the yoke to prevent the pins from sticking. The spinner cone has milled slots to keep the blade folding rubber bands in place. The yokes are completely hidden inside the spinner cone and cannot be interchanged as clearance between yoke and cone is very tight.

The GM CL Competition Line %1mm Spinner Assembly <b>does not include the collet</b> to attach the assembly to the motor or gearbox output shaft. This must be purchased separately, according to the diameter of the output shaft.

These {b,GM CL Competition Line} prop blades are a work of art. The blades are specially designed so when folded they nestle very close to a fuselage to minimise glide drag, while still retaining reasonable efficiency under power. To facilitate this the hinge pin hole is angled in two axes to allow the blades to fold very close to the fuselage. <b>This requires the use of matching GM CL Spinners. These blades cannot be used on any other spinners, the pitch will be much lower.</b>

The blades are very light, so 800W is the maximum safe power level. Do not exceed this.

Foam for %1 servos</b> is a beautifully engineered external bearing servo frame matched to a custom servo horn and supplied with a set of ultra-rigid pushrods for connecting the servo to flaps and ailerons. The {b,Integrated Drive System Foam} is the latest design of Servorahmen IDS systems, and {b,is designed to fit easily in solid core foam wings.}

Parts supplied in this Foam IDS set:
1 servo frame for foam wings, cut out size %6 mm x %7 mm
1 control surface horn
1 ball bearing
%2 plastic IDS pushrods - range between %3 mm and %4 mm length
4 servo arms of different lengths
2 servo mounting screws
4 steel bearing shafts (2 are spares)

Sold singly. Add one to the basket for mounting and connecting one servo. The previous type of IDS sets with pushrods made from an aluminium tube are discontinued and replaced by this new IDS/Mono design.
