Phillips Editions David Hockney Sale =3D $2.13 million (=C2=A31.75m)
Phillips $5.6 million in prints and editions sales in London this week was =
down from the $8.04 million sold the previous year. The stand-alone David H=
ockney prints and multiples sale was =C2=A31.75 million this year down from=
=C2=A33.3 million last year. The 100% sell-through on the Hockney editions=
is a sign of solid sale management from Phillips and possibly evidence tha=
t some demand wasn=E2=80=99t met. In 2022, three lots made prices above =C2=
=A3300,000 in the Hockney sale and one in the various artists sale but this=
year the top lot in the Hockney sale was =C2=A3228,600 and the priciest lo=
t in the broader prints and editions sale was =C2=A3260,350. So there does =
seem to be a new ceiling on what print collectors are willing to pay. ...
