ures are focused mostly on the new cut page, which we are continuing to wor=
k on in our goal to make it the world=E2=80=99s fastest=C2=A0editor.Changes=
in the bin now allow you to place media in various folders and isolate cli=
ps from being used when viewing clips in the source tape, sync bin or sync =
window. Clips will be seen in all folders below the current level and as yo=

lips. This is fast because the software guesses what the editor wants to do=
and just does it by adding the insert edit, or adding a=C2=A0transition to=
the edit closest to where the editor has placed the CTI. The problem is in=
complex edits, where it is hard to know what the software would do and whi=
ch edit it would place the effect or clip into. This is where the new smart=
indicator provides a=C2=A0small marker in the timeline so you get constant=
feedback on where DaVinci Resolve will place edits and transitions. The ne=
w smart indicator constantly live updates as you move around the=C2=A0timel=
ine.One of the most common feedback items requested was a faster way to cut=
clips in the timeline, and now DaVinci Resolve=C2=A016.1 includes a=C2=A0c=
ut clip icon in the user interface and simply clicking on it will slice the=
clips in the timeline at the CTI=C2=A0point. This is incredibly fast to us=
e as with one button click, the clips are cut=C2=A0immediately.Multiple cha=
nges have also been made to the new DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard, includ=
ing a=C2=A0new adaptive scroll feature on the search dial, which will slow =
down a=C2=A0job when editors are hunting for an in point, all automatically=
. The live trimming buttons have been renamed to the same labels as the fun=
ctions in the edit page, and they have been changed to trim in, trim out, t=
ransition duration, slip in and slip=C2=A0out. The function keys along the =
top of the keyboard have now been taken and used for various editing=C2=A0f=
unctions.Sometimes when editing shows with tight deadlines there is little =
time to continuously play the edit to see where the edit gets a=C2=A0bit bo=
ring. DaVinci Resolve=C2=A016.1 introduces a=C2=A0new Boring Detector that =
allows the whole timeline to be highlighted where any shot is too long and =
would be boring for a=C2=A0viewer to watch. The boring detector can also sh=
ow jump cuts where shots are too short as=C2=A0well. The analysis is consta=
ntly showing which parts of the timeline are boring so as editors work and =
add shots to their edit, they can see the remaining parts of the edit which=
are considered boring. The boring detector is great when using the source =
tape, as you can perform a=C2=A0lot of edits without playing the timeline, =
so the boring detector will be an alternative live source of=C2=A0feedback.=
One of the most powerful features of DaVinci Resolve=C2=A016.1 is the new s=
ync bin. The sync bin is a=C2=A0digital assistant editor which constantly s=
orts through thousands of clips and finds only the clips you need and displ=
ays them synced to the point in the timeline you are=C2=A0on. The sync bin =
will show the clips from the cameras on a=C2=A0shoot all stacked by camera =
number and the viewer will transform into a multi view so you can see what =
options you have for clips that sync to the shot in the timeline. The sync =
bin uses date and timecode to find and sync clips, and simply by using meta=
data and locking cameras to time of day, you can same time in the=C2=A0edit=
.The sync bin completely changes how multi camera editing can be completed.=
Just scroll along the timeline and the sync bin will display only shots th=
at are related to the timeline clips. You can even scroll off the end of th=
e timeline and keep adding shots. When using the DaVinci Resolve Editor Key=
board, simply hold the camera number and rotate the search dial to =E2=80=
=9Clive overwrite=E2=80=9D the clip into the timeline, making editing even=
=C2=A0faster.The close up edit feature has now been enhanced in DaVinci Res=
olve 16.1 and it now does face detection and analysis and will zoom the sho=
t to frame the face of the person=C2=A0nicely.If you are using shots from c=
ameras without timecode then the new sync window lets you sort and sync cli=
ps from multiple cameras. The sync window supports sync by timecode and it =
can also detect audio and sync clips by=C2=A0sound. All clips that have bee=
n synced will display a=C2=A0sync icon in the media pool so you can tell wh=
ich clips are synced and ready for use. Manually syncing clips using the ne=
w sync window allows workflows such as multiple action cameras to use new f=
eatures such as source overwrite editing and the new sync=C2=A0bin.This upd=
ate has features that bring a totally new way to solve complex editing prob=
