Will there be an Irish Whiskey drought?

Industry insiders have been warning that Ireland may not be able
to meet the demand for whiskey, especially if the current rate of
production continues.

Distilleries operating in Ireland are currently projected to
produce a maximum of 150 million LPA (Litres of Pure Alcohol) per
annum, and distilleries would have to have 950 million LPA in
reserve undergoing the process of maturation to meet the
anticipated demand.

Even if we take any reserves distilleries presently hold into
account, a significant gap remains between the expected demand
and current supply.

It could take years to close this gap, which opens a variety of
opportunities to investors.

Should a shortage arise in the future, those holding mature casks
may have a singular opportunity to sell those casks back to the
distiller for an unprecedented profit, among a number of other
