** Saying goodbye to Changemakers 2024 in sustainable style

What a week!

The Virgin StartUp team were out in force with two of our flagship events=
 on Wednesday.

In the morning=2C 8 founders - pictured above - took the stage at our fina=
l Demo Day of the year.

All the founders=2C part of our Empower100 programme=2C pitched their busi=
nesses to a packed room filled with investors=2C supporters=2C other found=
ers from the community and the Virgin StartUp team.

Demo Day is the culmination of our programme=2C bringing everything the fo=
unders have learnt together to pitch.

As we all know=2C pitching is an essential part of any founder=E2=80=99s t=
oolkit=2C so it was fantastic to see our founders land their presentations=
=2E

We were also pleased to have the Deputy Mayor for Business and Growth=2C H=
oward Dawber=2C join us to meet the founders too.

Congratulations to everyone who pitched=2C we can=E2=80=99t wait to see wh=
at you do next.

=F0=9F=93=B8 Matt Cobbett -  Natalie Pearce and Jamie Crummie

We then headed down to X+Why in Victoria for our final Changemakers event=
 of 2024.

Jamie Crummie was always driven by a deeper purpose=2C training as a human=
 rights lawyer and working with NGOs around the world.

It was when he was in Australia working in catering that he witnessed firs=
t hand the sheer amount of food that is wasted=2C costing the earth=2C qui=
te literally.

Fast forward almost 10 years and Too Good To Go has reached 100 million ap=
p downloads and has helped millions of us save over 350 million meals from=
 going to waste through their platform.

Host Jamie sat down with Natalie to uncover how he and his team have manag=
ed to scale so effectively=2C and what lessons he=E2=80=99s learnt along t=
he way.

Here were 3 things we learnt:

1. Be Brave and Take Chances

Some risks can lead to incredible rewards. Jamie shared how he (reluctantl=
y) paid for a journalist to travel to Leeds to experience the launch of To=
o Good To Go.

The journalist loved it=2C wrote a glowing review=2C and her story gained=
 traction nationally=2C including coverage by the BBC and a spot on The On=
e Show. Sometimes bold moves pay off big.

2. Follow Your Passion=2C and Success Will Follow

While Jamie didn=E2=80=99t begin his career in food waste or environmental=
 work=2C he has always been driven by a passion for helping people and the=
 planet.

From studying human rights law to working with NGOs and refugee rights=2C=
 his commitment to positive change naturally led him to start a mission-dr=
iven business like Too Good To Go.

3. Look Beyond Skills When Building Your Team

Skills matter=2C but shared values can take a team further. Jamie personal=
ly joins onboarding calls for every new team member at Too Good To Go and=
 finds a common thread among them: a desire to make a positive impact.

With like-minded people aligned on a shared mission=2C your team can achie=
ve greatness together.

 witnessed first hand the sheer amount of food that is wasted=2C costing t=

 million app downloads and has helped millions of us save over 350 million=

r how he and his team have managed to scale so effectively=2C and what les=

6px;"><strong>2. Follow Your Passion=2C and Success Will Follow</strong></=
