is a collection of seven short, animated static tableaus with accompanying
sound design. In this body of work, I’ve put the aural component—composed
entirely of my own field recordings—on equal footing with the visual image.
Narrative development has been stripped away with the intention of inviting
the viewer to invent their own meaning and creating the necessary space to
appreciate the extraordinary in the mundane.
Having worked with AI systems for a number of years, I’m consistently
looking for ways to personalize outputs. Typically this has been achieved
through technical exploration: sitting at a computer, mastering new
software, and discovering inventive ways to manipulate the tools at hand.
For this collection, however, I chose to subordinate that technical
maneuvering to the gathering of real-world source material.

The audio landscapes are stitched together from my immediate reality:
fragments captured during walks in nature or the ambient noise rising from
the streets below my apartment window.
This philosophy informs the visual generation as well. Previously, my
inclination with AI has been to probe the latent space to harvest the
wonders hidden there. Here, however, the workflow begins with my lived
experience. Every tableau is rooted in an actual physical scene—something
that’s left a lasting impression on me. In one piece, I reimagine the church
across the street from my home. Because the generation is rooted in physical
observation, the resulting artwork feels distinctly personal.

Field Recordings has served as a welcome recalibration. As a digital artist,
I spend long hours locked in on a screen. Yielding some of that screen time
to the gathering of real-world fodder has offered a sense of balance, and
pushed me to spend more time engaging with my surroundings.

static tableaus with accompanying sound design. In this body of work, =
I’ve put the aural component—composed entirely of my own =
field recordings—on equal footing with the visual image. Narrative =
development has been stripped away with the intention of inviting the =
viewer to invent their own meaning and creating the necessary space to =
appreciate the extraordinary in the mundane.</span></p><p =

years, I’m consistently looking for ways to personalize outputs. =

audio landscapes are stitched together from my immediate reality: =
fragments captured during walks in nature or the ambient noise rising =

philosophy informs the visual generation as well. Previously, my =
inclination with AI has been to probe the latent space to harvest the =
wonders hidden there. Here, however, the workflow begins with my lived =
experience. Every tableau is rooted in an actual physical =
scene—something that’s left a lasting impression on me. In =
one piece, I reimagine the church across the street from my home. =
Because the generation is rooted in physical observation, the resulting =
