Thank you very much for the go ahead. We have put you in the diary for week
commencing 20th May, Phil will be with you on the Monday around 9 – 9.30 am
(weather permitting).
Can you please let us know which colour of the calibrated sandstone you want
us to order as there are about 10 at the price we have used in our estimate.
We have just used “Camel” for someone and have previously used “Raj” on
several occasions, both look equally good when down. They are not wildly
different but it is worth you having a quick look to see if there is one
that you prefer. There are several different ranges of sandstone, you will
need to look at the “Calibrated” range all of which (except Sagar Black)
have a retail price of £23.99 per m2. The easiest way to get an idea of
the range is probably to pop in to the Binley showroom and get a brochure
(if you didn’t pick one up when you went before).
Thanks again for asking us to do the work, once you’ve chosen the paving, we’ll
get on and order it to make sure its available in time for w/c 20th May. (
Lead time is usually about 2 weeks but the longer we give them, the better
it is.)

Hi Bob,
The only way we can reduce the cost is to change the paving to a less
expensive slab in one size, without pointing. The one we would suggest is
called Milford Buff and it is a sandy/buff/yellowish colour and the size
would be 450 x 450 mm. They would be put down butted up with no pointing
gap in a straightforward side by side pattern. This clearly saves the cost
of the pointing compound and the time to actually do the pointing. To do
this for the 5.5m x 3m area would be £2150.00, have a think and come back if
its any good to you.

Just to confirm our estimated figures from earlier in the week. To lay the
patio in Sandstone (four sizes of slabs) edging two sides with “sleepers”
and making a step up onto the lawn :
- £2785.00 if we do all the digging out and
- £2535.00 if you do the bulk of the digging out, leaving Phil to do the
final inch or so to set the levels.
If you preferred the Rutland slabs, in any of the three colour variants,
the price is very similar, just £35.00 less.
We have just had the go ahead for a couple more jobs so the 2 – 3 week lead
time is now looking a bit more like 4 weeks but we’re not anticipating it
extending far beyond that at the moment.

of the pointing compound and the time to actually do the pointing. =
