I want to share an incredible story with you.




In 2021, life for Andy Layton and his family changed in an instant.




Andy, who served in the RAF for 14 years as a Corporal Weapons Technician, 
suffered a severe brain haemorrhage that left him unable to talk, eat, or 
walk.




With his wife Helen three months pregnant and hospitals still under strict 
COVID-19 restrictions, the journey ahead seemed overwhelming.


But with critical help from kind supporters like you, we could provide 
crucial financial support. This allowed the Laytons to relocate closer to 
family, reducing Helen's stressful and costly travels. We covered six months 
of rent to facilitate their move from Scotland to RAF Boulmer in 
Northumberland, which Helen described as a 'pivotal moment' in their 
journey.

How your support brought a young family even closer together



Thanks to the Fund, Andy was able to focus on his recovery with the support 
of his loved ones nearby. Over the course of eight months in hospital and 
six months in rehabilitation, Andy made remarkable progress. He is able to 
care for their young daughter, Lyra, and continues his recovery with ongoing 
physiotherapy.



Helen expressed her profound gratitude, saying, "It's hard to put into words 
how much the support from the Fund has meant to us. It has given us the 
freedom to live our lives together how we've wanted to."
