This may well be the 'find of the year' a fine claret with near 2 decades of 
cellaring, and all the deep complexity and seductive nuances that come with 
it, for under £16 a bottle, incredible!

I remember tasting this wine earlier in the year alongside our senior wine 
buyer Ben Godfrey (who's email you may have seen earlier in the week). 
Amongst an impressive spread of Bordeaux reds quietly sat an unsuspecting 
bottle of 2007 Château Les Tours Seguy Côtes de Bourg. Intrigued by the 
vintage I pushed others aside, poured a sample, and wow! The moment I lifted 
the glass a warming swirl of wonderfully mature, deeply complex aromas 
presented themselves, I could see Ben peering over, he knew he'd found 
something special.

Still such a deep intensity of colour in the core, leading to a gently 
fading brim, could this really be nearly 2 decades old? Surely the palate 
can't match the aromatics and visuals, but yes, this is the real deal; so 
much dark berry fruit jostling for your attention, but now accompanied by a 
subtle earthiness, polish, leather, cedarwood and spicy notes that only time 
can bring to the best wines.

Fruit and tertiary flavours hold on the palate seemingly forever, for a 
wonderful finish which will outlive your ability to resist returning for 
another taste.

"Good isn't it", to which I replied "if this is under £20 we should buy 
every bottle we can", a sentiment shared by both Ben, and my other 
colleagues who also tasted it throughout the day.

We shipped every bottle we could, all of which have now landed at our 
warehouse, I doubt it will be enough and I don't know if there will be any 
more, so push the button on a case today - risk free as always - and be 
happy.

It's often the quiet ones...
I'm fortunate to taste many, many wines, as part of my role, often from 
headline grabbing estates, at eyewatering prices, from superb vintages or 
private collections. But wow as many of them do, it is discoveries such as 
this 2007 Château Les Tours Seguy which are for me some of the most 
exciting.

Wines that offer such drinking pleasure and complexity, typically from only 
the top châteaux and commanding top prices, are without question a real 
treat, but this 2007 Château Les Tours Seguy offers so much of that same 
enjoyment in a wonderfully understated way. It's just fantastic.

I commented to my colleague: "anyone who doesn't enjoy this, simply doesn't 
enjoy red Bordeaux" as once tasted, I don't think anyone could deny that 
this is an incredible wine, and an equally incredible price.
