In a nutshell, essential requirements are project management of large
scale production line refurb and replacement projects, mechanical
engineering, supplier management, contractor management and GMP knowledge
and adherence.  Actual notes from what the manager said as below.



Paper qualifications not necessary, the candidate must be hands on and
familiar with the likes of forming and extruding and be able to manually
dismantle and re-assemble machinery and parts, eg gear boxes.  Due to
their experience the candidate will talk about and understand mechanical
engineering terms eg have �mechanical grunt� know-how.



Working within the Mechanical Engineering team, supporting major
replacement and refurbishment projects within confectionary manufacturing.



First major project is replacing the licquorice line which was first
installed in 1950.  Replacing key components which are still fit for
purpose and installing new equipment.  The whole line will have to close
and this outage will be 2 weeks duration.  As well as mechanical
engineering, strong project management experience is absolutely essential.
Other essentials include managing contractors, supplier management, robust
safety legislation knowledge and GMP.



Due to the outage period, the project engineer will be required to work
extra hours, including weekends to ensure the project is completed on
time.



Ideally from a food manufacturing background but this is not essential if
candidates have the mechanical engineering knowledge and are a strong
project manager.



It is expected the outage will start in July/August, depending on
everything coming together ready to begin.  Other similar projects are now
in the pipeline and once this initial project is complete the project
engineer will move on to the next.
