rtones. However=2C MANDRAKE is not just such a one trick pony. KMA has add=
ed a 2nd order Low-Pass Filter=2C a TIMBRE and individual Mix controls to=
 their well-regarded circuit=2C to make a more versatile compact pedal. Th=
e FILTER helps to tame the upper harmonics and improve tracking=2C great f=
or tailoring the upper octave to different instruments and pickups=2C whil=

From the outset=2C KMA Machine=E2=80=99s goal was to create the most flexi=
ble analog upper octave pedal ever yet produced. Based on a highly refined=
 and improved version of the Shriek circuit from our venerated MOAI MAEA p=
edal=2C the MANDRAKE brings an even more robust and present upper octave t=
o the sonic table. By combining that upper-octave might with a versatile=
=2C yet highly intuitive user interface=2C the pedal provides a ton of kil=
ler tonal options in a very modern and pedalboard-friendly package.

Octave up pedals (as used by so many legendary performers including Hendri=
x=2C Tony Iommi=2C Josh Homme=2C Billy Corgan=2C Jack White and so many mo=
re)=2C can really give added bite to your sound. But often=2C many of thes=
e fun tools can be untamed and lead to nasty clashing overtones.

With MANDRAKE however=2C we didn=E2=80=99t want to just make a one trick p=
ony octave up device. No=2C we wanted to expand on our easy-to-use=2C yet=
 powerful and ultra-fast tracking Shriek circuit with its edgy and fuzzy c=
haracter that=E2=80=99s reminiscent of many of the best vintage octave-up=
 devices. To do this=2C we introduced a 2nd order Low-Pass Filter=2C a TIM=
BRE and individual Mix controls to KMA=E2=80=99s well-regarded circuit to=
 make it way more versatile in a single pedal. Let=E2=80=99s look at those=
 cool new things in more detail.

The FILTER control helps to tame your upper harmonics=2C as well as to imp=
rove tracking=2C letting you achieve unhinged=2C cutting and shrieking may=
hem when the control is fully turned all the way to the left. While turnin=
g the knob in the other direction gives a more mellow and blooming synth-l=
ike texture. The FILTER section is also very useful for tailoring the uppe=
r octave effect to different instruments and pickups=2C where getting the=
 right tone is not a =E2=80=9Cone size fits all=E2=80=9D equation.
In addition=2C to enable the octave voicing in MANDRAKE to be sculpted exa=
ctly to your own personal taste=2C the TIMBRE control defines the amount o=
f fuzzy gain present in the upper octave. This allows you to perfectly ble=
nd in the pedal=E2=80=99s tonality with the rest of your signal chain. Tur=
ning the control fully counterclockwise=2C gives a slightly crunchy and pe=
rcussive tone that=E2=80=99s ideal for melodic arpeggio enhancements. Whil=
e cranking the TIMBRE knob fully clockwise will transform MANDRAKE into a=
 crushingly saturated doom-hammer=2C instantly ready to wreak havoc with e=
ach power chord you throw at it!

Topping off the features=2C the DRY and OCT+ controls allow the dry signal=
 and effected upper octave to be mixed independently=2C for precise tonal=
 balancing. This is especially handy when using MANDRAKE together with oth=
er dirt pedals or when you just want to retain the natural body and attack=
 of your instrument.
