Good to hear it arrived safely.

I have raised your question with Phil and Tim, separately they both came 
back with the same thing I was thinking. These units are designed to be 
used on the floor with the downwards pressure of feet. It is worth 
giving a day or so on the floor and see if you think the action is 
smoother. I believe they are air compressed and it might just make the 
action a little smoother. I know it barely had any use with the original 
owner. The good news is that it is working, it might just be that you 
need either need to adapt how you use it or get some strong fingers : )
