Hi Phil, Danny here, I bought the D37 Pre War the other day. I'm really 
sorry to have to contact you like this but I've got some issues with the 
guitar. I'm emailing as I've been really busy today and it's a bit too 
much to explain in a phone call, so apologies for the very long email.

So first off the guitar sounds and plays amazing, no complaints there. 
However when I changed the strings I noticed some problems which are 
really disappointing...

Firstly, as I removed the strings I noticed the saddle was loose and 
rocks back and forth. I took it out and there seems to be some wood 
shavings in the corners of the saddle slots meaning the saddle doesn't 
sit all the way down into the slot. This obviously cant be good for tone 
and is just poor workmanship. I decided to leave it and string the 
guitar back up...

Secondly, as I was feeding the low E string into the tuner I noticed 
some of the ferrules are not seated all the way down and a few are 
actually loose. Again poor quality control and just not installed 
properly...

Thirdly, as I was looking at the ferrules I saw that the faceplate on 
the headstock has actually started coming away! I've only ever seen this 
on old Gibsons and is really very poor for a guitar of this quality!

I didn't notice any of these things the other day as I didnt examine it 
as closely and to be honest I wasn't looking or expecting for anything 
like this to be wrong with it. To be honest I wouldn't expect to see 
these issues on a £2000 mass produced guitar let alone a boutique hand 
built one costing nearly £5000!

Anyway I obviously want all this to stay amicable between us and I'm 
really torn to know what to do. Its given me a horrible feeling in my 
stomach to know I've spent nearly £5000 on a guitar with these issues 
and it makes me wonder what else could be wrong but hidden inside.

On the one hand I'd love to keep it but I dont think these issues are 
acceptable and I just cannot justify the cost - a £5000 guitar should be 
absolutely perfect. Obviously I need to return it so you can see it but 
what do you suggest we do about resolving this? I'm happy to pick 
something else but I'm now very nervous about looking at another Atkin 
:(
